Comedy Gives Back founders Amber J. Lawson, Jodi Lieberman and Zoe Friedman were featured in Variety for their work in bringing financial relief to comedians in need.

In "Comedy Gives Back Extends a Laugh Line to Those in Need," Variety highlights how Comedy Gives Back reacted quickly to the COVID pandemic. With live shows cancelled, many, maybe even most, comedians found themselves with no income, their calendar of gigs erased for the unforeseeable future. Comedy Gives Back was there to help.

With their 2020 plans for the charity suddenly up in the air, the Comedy Gives Back leadership trio pivoted and created Laugh Aid, a livestream event featuring big name comics, that raised over $355,000 for the COVID relief grant. Comedians in need were able to apply for a $500 grant, and if accepted, could expect to receive funds quickly.

With no end in sight to the pandemic, more events are planned for 2021 to help comedians. For the latest, follow Comedy Gives Back on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
